About the role
Location: Toronto Pay Rate: $60,000 - $70,000 Onsite
JOB DESCRIPTION The revenue accountant will own the reconciliation of our client's diverse revenue streams, ensuring transactions from systems such as Shopify, Raiser’s Edge, Eventbrite, and other revenue sources are accurately recorded and reconciled in QuickBooks. Responsible for investigating and resolving discrepancies between operational systems and financial records, perform complex account reconciliations, and ensure revenue recognition and deferred revenue entries are accurate and audit-ready. Performing monthly revenue variance analysis, identify trends and anomalies, and provide meaningful insights to support business decisions and organizational growth. Working closely with the CFO and leaders across the organization, you will support month-end close activities, improve financial processes and controls, and help prepare the organization for upcoming audits and continued expansion.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 2+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on account reconciliations and revenue accounting. CPA designation or actively pursuing a CPA. Experience reconciling multiple systems and data sources to an ERP/accounting platform, QuickBooks preferred. Strong understanding of revenue recognition, deferred revenue, accruals, and month-end accounting processes. Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Lookups) and strong analytical/problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work independently and collaborate with leaders across different departments. Highly detail-oriented, curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Non-profit, charity, fund accounting, or grant accounting experience. Experience with deferred revenue and restricted funds. Familiarity with Shopify, Raiser’s Edge, EventPro, Eventbrite, or similar revenue-management systems.
