Position Summary
The Supervisor, Cost Accounting leads the company’s cost accounting function, overseeing inventory valuation, standard costing, labor and overhead absorption, sales and margin, and period-end reporting. The role manages a team of analysts and cost accountants to provide financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, margin and productivity reporting, and strategic decision support.
Essential Responsibilities

Lead month-end and year-end close activities for cost accounting and manufacturing finance, ensuring accurate financial reporting, inventory valuation, cost of sales, and strong internal controls.

Oversee standard costing, labor and overhead absorption rates, and analysis of material, labor, and manufacturing variances.

Coordinate annual budgets, forecasts, and productivity reporting, providing insights into operational and financial performance.

Partner with operations and senior management to support decision-making through financial analysis, margin reporting, and performance recommendations.

Coordinate year end inventory counts related to year end audit. Monitor cycle count policy and perform mid-year cycle count audit.

Lead, coach, and develop a team of financial analysts and cost accountants while ensuring priorities and deadlines are achieved.

Support internal, external, and government audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
Position Requirements

Post-secondary education in Accounting and Finance.

CPA designation or actively working towards completion of CPA is preferred.

Experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset.

Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including advanced skills in MS Excel.

Experience using CINCOM or SAP would be considered an asset.
