About the role
Helping out Fintech client in downtown Toronto with a Senior Accountant search. This is a full-time permanent opportunity with a great bonus, benefits, RRSP matching, and a hybrid work model (2 days in office). This role reports to the corporate accounting team. Preference will be given to candidates with public accounting backgrounds, CPA or CFE passed is a must have!
Key Responsibilities Prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting working papers to ensure an accurate and timely financial close. Analyze monthly financial results, identify variances and trends, and provide insightful commentary to management. Reconcile high-volume cash and loan receivable accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed. Partner with the Senior Manager of Accounting to enhance financial processes through automation and process improvements. Assist with year-end reporting, external audits, special projects, and cross-functional initiatives. Support the development and maintenance of accounting policies and internal controls to ensure compliance and a strong control environment.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. CPA designation required. Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within financial services or e-commerce. Strong knowledge of IFRS and day-to-day accounting principles. Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF functions. Experience with ERP systems, tax, or audit is considered an asset. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach and a focus on continuous process improvement.
