Corporate Accountant
About the role
Company Description Hoovest Group is a diversified financial services organization with businesses in wealth management, fund management, insurance, and corporate advisory. We're a growing company, and our team is expanding. We've built an environment where great people do great work together: collaborative, supportive, and full of opportunities to learn. If you're looking for a place where you can grow beyond a job description, this is it. Hoovest Financial Inc., is registered as an investment fund manager, portfolio manager, and exempt market dealer with regulatory bodies across multiple Canadian provinces and jurisdictions.
Role Description We're looking for a Corporate Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting for the companies within our group. You'll keep the books current daily, run the full accounting cycle through to financial statements, work with custodians on transactions and reconciliations, and support our external auditors and regulatory reporting. It's a role with real ownership and plenty of room to learn how an investment fund manager operates from the inside.
What you will do • Perform daily accounting updates, keeping records complete and current • Own full-cycle accounting, including month-end close, accruals, and intercompany transactions • Work with custodians on transaction settlement, account activity, and reconciliations • Prepare month end billings, bank and account reconciliations • Prepare financial statements and supporting working papers • Work directly with our external auditors through the year-end audit process • Support regulatory filings and compliance reporting requirements • Assist with corporate income tax filings and related schedules • Draft ad hoc reports and analysis as needed Support other team members as required
Who You Are
• You have at least 2 to 3 years of accounting experience, ideally including audit support • You have a solid accounting foundation (experience in financial services or investment management, or working with custodians is an asset) • You're genuinely curious and willing to learn new areas of accounting • You're a strong communicator who works well with custodians, external auditors, and teammates • You're detail-oriented and reliable when it comes to deadlines, reconciliations, and reporting accuracy
What We Offer • A growing team with real opportunities to learn and take on more responsibility • Exposure to how an investment fund manager operates, from corporate accounting through audit, tax, and regulatory reporting • A collaborative environment with great people who invest in each other's growth • The chance to shape processes, drive automation, and leave your mark rather than just maintain the status quo
