About the role

Job Description What is the opportunity? As Advisor, Media + Social Intelligence, you will work as part of a specialty practice within the Brand, Marketing, Communications and Citizenship Group (BMCC) to deliver relevant and meaningful insights on news media coverage that matter to RBC. You’ll be responsible for delivering reporting and analysis on traditional news media coverage with relevance to the bank through a reputational risk and brand enhancement lens. This includes providing proactive and reactive news media monitoring, working alongside team members delivering social media intelligence to feed into integrated insights reports, and partnering and sharing information with internal stakeholders across BMCC to support communications strategies and goals. What will you do? • Help enhance and protect RBC’s brand and reputation by actively monitoring a broad range of news media outlets. • Provide value-added media insights and analysis through the development of coverage reports, including partnering closely with colleagues to deliver integrated reporting. • Contribute to day-to-day media monitoring including real-time tracking and sharing relevant coverage, as well as ad-hoc reports for key strategic initiatives as required. • Contribute to the ideation, creation, and delivery of select integrated news media and social media insights reports for a wider BMCC audience. • Contribute to the content and distribution of RBC’s daily media report capturing RBC’s earned media coverage and relevant news. • Support the distribution of press releases as required. • Help advance a consistent enterprise-wide approach to storytelling that aligns with, and reinforces RBC’s brand, purpose, values, and strategy, both internally and externally. • Find and establish new ways to track and measure our impact (e.g. innovating in media reporting and analysis). What do you need to succeed? • Educational and professional background in corporate communications, media relations or public relations. • A passion for news and a solid grasp of the media landscape across a range of outlets. • Experience in media monitoring and providing value-add insights and analysis. using media monitoring and reporting tools such as Cision, Meltwater and Factiva (or others). • Experience supporting relationships with key internal partners and vendors. • Proven ability to find new ways to track and measure impact, such as innovating in media reporting and analysis. • Experience in supporting proactive and reactive media strategies. Nice-to-have • Knowledge of financial services industry. • Experience with organizing news release distribution. What is in it for you?
