About the role
Our leading financial client in Canada is looking for a Senior Digital Product Designer to join their team! In this role, you will craft the client acquisition experience for the Consumer Banking Journey. You will work within an agile environment and iterative process, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and stakeholders to analyze, design, and convey your design vision.
As a Senior Designer, you will act as an interaction design subject-matter expert, using your expertise to delight users with designs that inspire, engage, and excite. You will collaborate within a 4-person multidisciplinary design squad, reporting to a Design Lead and partnering daily with cross-functional product and engineering teams to drive design direction, validate solutions, and deliver multi-fidelity assets.
What You Will Do
Design Strategy & Collaboration
Drive Business Objectives: Define design requirements and strategy to directly drive business objectives for the Consumer Banking Journey. Facilitate & Lead: Lead design conversations, facilitate ideation sessions, conduct design critiques, and provide expert advice to cross-functional teams to ensure interactions are inclusive. Behavioral Design: Understand user interface patterns and behaviors to drive user comprehension, improve task performance, and use visualizations to support analytic thinking with large data sets.
Artifact Creation
End-to-End Design: Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and information architecture up to high-fidelity, interactive prototypes to explore, communicate, and deliver technical specifications for development. Best Practices: Use a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, visual design theory, and complex design systems to inform design decisions across multiple channels (responsive web and native mobile-first apps). Stakeholder Presentation: Present interaction design work, rationales, and product strategies clearly to senior stakeholders and partners.
Research & Testing
User Validation: Initiate, participate in, and facilitate usability testing and research activities to validate solutions. Audits & Insights: Perform competitive audits within the financial services sector, as well as pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits to continuously optimize the product.
What You'll Bring
Must-Have Experience
Education & Experience: BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product), HCI, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience, paired with a minimum of 5 years of experience designing usable interfaces across multiple channels. Core Design Skills: Strong digital product design experience in an Interaction (IXD) / Visual Designer role with solid typography, visual hierarchy, and concepting skills. Platform Expertise: A proven mobile-first mindset with experience designing for both responsive web and native applications. Systems & Methodologies: Experience working with complex design systems, Lean UX, and agile development teams. Research Integration: Experience in an applied research setting, including integrating user research and usability testing into product designs. Tooling: Demonstrated expertise with industry-standard design, prototyping, and research tools (e.g., Figma, Mural, UserTesting.com). Mindset: A curious, strategic, self-starting, and collaborative team member who thrives on inviting and responding to feedback. Portfolio: A comprehensive portfolio that includes application design samples.
Nice-to-Have Experience
Advanced Education: MA/MS degree or professional certification in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field. Scale: Experience working within large organizations, navigating multiple stakeholders, and collaborating across large design teams (Product/Business/Technical partners). Deep Research Knowledge: A strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase. Design Thinking: A strong appreciation for the potential and application of “design thinking” methodologies.
What’s In It For You
Inclusive Culture: Join a supportive environment where designers feel included, valued, and heard, surrounded by peers who excel in their areas of expertise. Massive Impact: Work on digital solutions used by millions of people and contribute to a company that truly values customer experience and remains a Global Digital leader. Innovation: Partner with a forward-thinking team that is actively pushing the boundaries of digital product design to improve the lives of customers and communities
