Make an impact with our Indigenous Ease Services team as a Manager. This diverse team of professionals works with more than 250 Indigenous peoples, groups and organizations across Canada and shares a passion for learning and understanding their history, culture and contributions to our country. As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide expertise to empower Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses and individuals in navigating a dynamic social, political and economic environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with clients to understand their accounting processes and help build a clear path for growth and financial capability
- Create checklists and guides, and provide hands-on training to build confidence in day-to-day accounting tasks
- Support audit readiness by organizing documents, sharing best practices, and connecting with external auditors when needed
- Work with Indigenous Services Canada and other funders to gather requirements and help clients stay on track with reporting
- Offer practical guidance on accounting topics like financing, system setup, and chart of accounts
- Review and improve financial policies and processes to keep things running smoothly and in line with requirements
- Provide support and training on payroll, GST/PST, and year-end filings
- Help define roles and responsibilities within finance teams, including creating job descriptions where needed
- Identify when additional support (e.g., IT or HR) could help strengthen operations
- Support and mentor team members by sharing feedback and guidance
- Share financial updates and progress with leadership on a regular basis
- Willingness to travel to support clients and teams
Skills and Experience
- Certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting with relevant career experience is considered an asset
- Completion of CPA or CAFM preferred, other relevant professional credentials/training considered
- Minimum five years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping or related experience
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, processes and general organizational functions
- Strong relationship building and communication skills
- Experience working with accounting software such as Sage Intact and Sage 300
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset
