Job Summary Parts Avatar is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Accountant to take the lead of our accounting team in Montreal. This role requires an advanced accounting background with strong math and statistics skills to support data-driven financial planning, inventory valuations, and operational audits. If you possess a robust mathematical mindset, deep accounting expertise, and experience navigating the fast-paced nature of e-commerce high-volume transactions, this position offers an exceptional leadership opportunity.
Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the corporate accounting team, ensuring absolute accuracy and efficiency in all reporting. Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing comprehensive financial statements, corporate tax filings, and variance reports. Apply mathematical and statistical models to analyze financial trends, forecast long-term cash flows, optimize tax configurations, and perform deep margin analysis on e-commerce product performance. Oversee inventory accounting, ledger reconciliations, and cost of goods sold (COGS) accuracy across multiple Canadian fulfillment centers. Ensure full compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS) and provincial regulations, including Quebec corporate taxation and reporting frameworks. Collaborate closely with data analysts and engineering infrastructure teams to audit transaction data integrity, automate accounting workflows, and mitigate reconciliation gaps. Provide data-driven strategic financial recommendations directly to executive leadership to optimize operational expenditure and support corporate profitability.
Candidate Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field. Holding a professional CPA designation (Chartered Professional Accountant) is highly preferred.
Experience 5+ years of progressive professional experience in corporate accounting, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership, supervisory, or team lead capacity. A proven track record in the e-commerce, retail, distribution, or supply chain sectors is essential.
Technical Skills Advanced expertise in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and complex tax compliance. Strong proficiency with quantitative metrics, financial modelling, and data analytics environments (Excel, SQL, or accounting-specific ERP systems). Solid understanding of statistical methods used for operational forecasting and performance scaling.
Soft Skills Excellent leadership, communication, and team mentorship abilities. Meticulous attention to numerical detail accompanied by sharp problem-solving skills. Ability to independently drive optimization initiatives, handle competing priorities, and articulate complex financial insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
Work Eligibility Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Language Profile Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required, as English is the primary working language across multi-provincial teams. Fluency or conversational proficiency in French is considered a strong asset for our Montreal operations.
Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications) In-depth experience handling multi-provincial digital sales tax rules (GST/HST/PST/QST) for complex online consumer transactions. Familiarity with leveraging reporting visualization suites (such as Tableau or QuickSight) to construct automated, clean financial data dashboards.
