About the role
Key Responsibilities As a Payment Business Analyst/Product Owner, you will be instrumental in driving the development and implementation of next-generation payment platforms and solutions. Your responsibilities will include: ● Requirements Management: ○ Gather, analyze, and define detailed business requirements and specifications, including Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), User stories and user journeys for various payment modules. ○ Ensure all specifications are meticulously aligned with industry standards such as ISO 20022, SWIFT, Real-Time Payments (RTP), and Automated Clearing House (ACH). ● Solution Design & Validation: ○ Lead the business solution design, encompassing scope definition, feature identification, and end-to-end process flows, considering organizational impacts, pricing, and billing aspects. ○ Validate payment flows, complex exception scenarios, and critical integration points across systems. ○ Contribute significantly to the architecture definition and validation from a business process perspective. ● Project Execution & Delivery: ○ Act as a pivotal partner for Quality Assurance (QA) and Product teams, ensuring thorough testing, efficient defect resolution, and seamless go-live readiness. ○ Support Product Managers and Feature Teams throughout the delivery lifecycle by addressing queries, validating business rules, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. ○ Define comprehensive business acceptance criteria to guide and inform the testing strategy. ○ Ensure backlog completeness and prioritization, effectively translating business needs into detailed user stories for development teams. ○ Track and follow up on project milestones across all delivery phases, from functional design through to end-to-end testing and the final go-live decision. ○ Actively participate in mandatory agile ceremonies, contributing to continuous improvement and timely delivery. ● Domain Expertise & Consultation: ○ Provide deep domain expertise to support the configuration of clearing systems and the implementation of regulatory workflows. ○ Elaborate and articulate requirements to vendors and IT teams, subsequently validating the provided solutions against business needs. ○ Serve as the primary point of contact for all business requirements related to payments transformation projects. ● Change Management & Support: ○ Lead change management activities for middle and back-office teams, including the design of training materials, delivery of end-user training, and conducting live demonstrations. ○ Validate all prerequisites for production rollout, ensuring business readiness for successful implementation. ○ Provide production support in case of incidents, ensuring swift resolution and minimal business disruption.
- Key Skills and Experience Required ● Industry Experience: ○ 8-10+ years of comprehensive experience within Banking & Financial Services, with significant exposure to Payments products implementations, particularly in large-scale programs within Transaction Banking. ○ Proven hands-on experience with Payments and Cash Management products. ● Payment Domain Knowledge: ○ Deep understanding of end-to-end commercial banking processes, with a specific focus on payments and cash management. ○ Expertise in various payment systems, including UPI, QR, Cards, Wallets, API, and traditional Banking systems. ○ Demonstrated experience in driving innovation within Payments, covering both domestic and cross-border payment rails.
● Technical & Functional Skills: ○ Ability to proficiently understand complex business requirements and translate them into clear, actionable Business Requirement Documents (BRDs). ○ Must have extensive experience with payment file formats such as ISO 20022, SEPA Products (SCT, SDD, Instant SCT), and SWIFT (specifically for Cross Border Payments). ○ Strong functional expertise in end-to-end payments processing. ● Project & Process Acumen: ○ Experience with Request for Proposal (RFP) / Request for Information (RFI) processes is an added advantage. ○ Proficient in agile methodologies, with a track record of translating business needs into effective user stories and participating actively in agile ceremonies.
● Soft Skills: ○ Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. ○ Superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences. ○ Strong ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, engaging effectively with business, IT, QA, and product teams.
