About the role
About Us We have been making our clients' message stick for over 60 years. Founded in 1962, North American Decal Inc. (NAD) is an iconic leader in designing and manufacturing high-quality decals and graphics for commercial, industrial, and promotional applications. With over six decades of industry expertise, we're embarking on an exciting new chapter under a dynamic management team infused with fresh ideas and a strong focus on growth. We're expanding our reach across North America, particularly targeting the U.S. and Mexico markets, and we're looking for passionate individuals to join us on this journey. Job Description We are seeking a full-time Intermediate Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting needs of the business while helping improve financial visibility across operations, job costing, inventory, quoting, and cash management. This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a small-to-medium-sized manufacturing environment, where accounting is closely connected to production, customer service, purchasing, and leadership decision-making. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing core accounting tasks while also investigating discrepancies, improving processes, and helping the company better understand profitability by customer, job, and product line. Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations: Support full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including reconciliations, account cleanup, and follow-up on overdue items. Month-End Support: Prepare bank, credit card, vendor, and customer account reconciliations; assist with journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, account analysis, and month-end close activities. Statutory & Year-End Support: Assist with HST filings, payroll-related reconciliations, WSIB/EHT support where applicable, and year-end working papers for external accountants. Manufacturing & Inventory Accounting: Assist with inventory reconciliations, investigation of variances, purchase order matching, and material cost tracking. Job Costing & Margin Analysis: Support work-in-progress tracking, job costing, and margin review by customer, job, and product line; help identify gaps between quoted margins and actual profitability. Reporting & Dashboards: Prepare recurring reports on sales, gross margin, AR aging, expenses, and cash flow; support simple dashboards and management reporting. Cash Flow & Working Capital: Support cash flow forecasting and working capital visibility by helping identify billing gaps, overdue receivables, vendor issues, and process bottlenecks. ERP & Data Hygiene: Support accurate use of the company ERP/accounting systems, including cleanup of legacy customer, vendor, inventory, and job-costing data. Odoo experience is an asset. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, customer service, purchasing, and management to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Process Improvement: Document accounting procedures and recommend practical improvements to reduce errors, strengthen internal controls, and improve reporting discipline.
Qualifications Accounting Experience: 2-5 years of accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing, distribution, print, packaging, signage, industrial services, or another small-to-medium business environment. Technical Accounting Skills: Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end processes. Manufacturing Exposure: Experience with inventory, job costing, work-in-progress, purchase order matching, or manufacturing accounting is a strong asset. Education: Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. CPA enrollment or interest is an asset, but not required. Technical Proficiency: Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with ERP/accounting systems. Odoo experience would be an asset. Analytical Mindset: Curious and investigative, with the ability to dig into discrepancies rather than simply process entries. Communication Skills: Able to communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance colleagues and translate accounting issues into practical business terms. Working Style: Organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment where systems and processes are still evolving. Integrity & Discretion: Demonstrates sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial and employee information. What We Offer Competitive Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, with the opportunity to grow as the finance function matures. Meaningful Impact: An opportunity to make a tangible contribution to a growing manufacturing business by improving financial visibility, reporting, and decision-making. Cross-Functional Exposure: Hands-on exposure to finance, operations, production, quoting, purchasing, and business decision-making. Growth Opportunities: Be part of a company with a renewed vision and opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility over time. Comprehensive Benefits: Group insurance that includes extended health benefits, long-term disability, and life insurance. Iconic Legacy: Work with a company that has been a trusted name since 1962 by Fortune 500 companies. If you're ready to take the next step in your accounting career and be part of a team that's strengthening the financial foundation of a growing manufacturing business, we'd love to hear from you!
