Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Analyst will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department by compiling various reporting/analyses, performing General Ledger account reconciliation and related required journal entries, assisting with new, more efficient, financial processes and systems (both manual and electronic), and ensuring that internal financial controls are followed.
What You Will Be Doing
Prepare bank reconciliations for all college bank accounts; Initiate all bank-related transactions (eg, stop payments, bank transfers between the College’s accounts, direct deposit file upload, wire transfers to foreign countries); Interpret, implement, and apply all Ministry, Government, and College policies, guidelines, practices, and procedures pertaining to all aspects of accounting, maintenance of student financial account information, and accounting and taxable treatment of scholarships, bursaries, and awards on student accounts; Facilitate sound financial reporting throughout the College by developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective accounting system for both the operating and capital revenues and expenditures; Prepare and remit monthly HST return, ensuring Revenue Canada and Ministry of Finance recording and reporting requirements are being adhered to; and Participates in the year-end audit preparation.

What You Will Need To Be Considered
Three (3) year Diploma in Accounting, Business with a Specialization in Accounting, Commerce or a related/relevant field of study is required; Five (5) years of progressive experience in finance or accounting; and Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, audit theory and good accounting practices.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The incumbent must possess an excellent understanding of computerized accounting systems and a working knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel) and word processing (Word) applications.
