Salary: $75,000.00 to $85,000.00

Job Purpose We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Analyst to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for account reconciliations, financial reporting, project cost analysis, intercompany accounting, month-end close activities, and supporting audits across multiple entities. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting management with timely and reliable financial information.
Duties & Responsibilities · Perform monthly bank reconciliations across multiple entities and accounts. · Investigate and resolve outstanding items including uncleared cheques and deposits in transit. · Monitor cash activity and flag unusual or high-risk transactions. · Record bank-related journal entries including interest, fees, and corrections. · Reconcile corporate credit cards ensuring all transactions are captured and supported. · Ensure accurate GL coding and project allocation of expenses. · Follow up on missing receipts, duplicate or unauthorized transactions. · Reconcile statements to general ledger balances. · Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations including prepaids, accruals, and loans. · Maintain continuity schedules and supporting documentation. · Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, reclasses, and allocations. · Support month-end close processes and timelines. · Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. · Record and reconcile intercompany transactions across entities. · Ensure intercompany balances match and resolve discrepancies. · Support intercompany eliminations for consolidated reporting. · Maintain documentation of intercompany agreements and allocations. · Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements. · Prepare GST/HST/QST filings. · Perform variance analysis and provide explanations. · Support preparation of reporting packages. · Ensure timely and accurate reporting deliverables. · Track and analyze operating expenses by category and entity. · Compare actuals to budget and forecast and identify variances. · Provide insights on cost drivers and trends. · Support cost control and budgeting activities. · Assist with annual budgets and rolling forecasts. · Prepare project financial reports including cost vs. budget and margin analysis. · Review job cost allocations and coding accuracy. · Track costs across labour, materials, subcontractors, and overhead. · Identify cost overruns and financial risks. · Support job profitability reporting. · Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation. · Respond to audit inquiries. · Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. · Support year-end close and audit adjustments. · Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation and reporting processes. · Develop Excel tools and templates. · Support ERP/system implementations and enhancements. · Standardize workflows across entities. · Collaborate with AP, Payroll, and Operations teams. · Provide financial insights to management. · Support ad-hoc reporting and special projects.
Qualifications & Skills Required · CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset · Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based environments · Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting · Experience with project costing and job cost reporting is preferred · Knowledge of GST/HST/QST requirements and compliance · Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software/ERP systems · Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills · Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment · High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy · Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment Work Location: In person
