About the role

The CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB) is seeking a Senior Manager, Examinations Technology to lead the business-side ownership and continuous improvement of the technology solutions supporting the CPA Professional Examinations program. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of high-stakes professional assessment by overseeing examination technology systems, driving innovation, and supporting the delivery of secure, reliable, and candidate-focused examination experiences.

Reporting to the Vice-President, CPA Professional Examinations, the Senior Manager, Examinations Technology is responsible for the planning, implementation, enhancement, and operational support of examination technology solutions across the examination lifecycle. The role works closely with examination teams, external vendors, and Enterprise IT to ensure technology systems effectively support examination delivery, marking, reporting, candidate feedback, and future technology initiatives.

The successful candidate will lead examination technology enhancements, oversee software implementations and testing activities, support operational readiness for examination cycles, and develop long-term roadmaps that align with evolving business needs. The role also evaluates emerging technologies and identifies opportunities to improve candidate experience, examination security, operational effectiveness, and reporting capabilities.

Working as part of the CPA Professional Examinations team, the Senior Manager collaborates with examination operations teams, psychometricians, vendors, governance bodies, regulatory partners, and enterprise IT to ensure examination technology remains reliable, scalable, and aligned with the needs of a national high-stakes assessment program.

What the Successful Candidate Will Bring Education · Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, education, technology, or a related field. · Proficiency in both English and French is considered an asset.

Experience · Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience supporting technology-enabled business operations, assessment programs, credentialing, education, or related environments. · Experience managing complex technology solutions and vendor relationships in a multi-stakeholder environment. · Experience serving as a business lead or product owner for technology solutions. · Experience evaluating or implementing emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation tools, to improve business processes. · Project management experience involving multiple partners and fixed deadlines. · Experience with examination delivery platforms, learning management systems, assessment technologies, or similar technology ecosystems is considered an asset. · Knowledge of high-stakes assessment, examination delivery, marking, candidate results, or credentialing processes is considered a strong asset.

Skills and Attributes · Ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions. · Strong vendor management and relationship management skills. · Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities. · Ability to assess technology options and make recommendations aligned with business needs. · Ability to develop business cases and technology investment recommendations. · Experience working with data, quality assurance processes, and operational improvement initiatives. · Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and AI-enabled productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot. · Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

This role is eligible for hybrid work. CPAWSB is based primarily in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. Candidates located outside these centres may be required to travel periodically to a CPAWSB office or other locations as required.

The salary range for this role is $110,600 to $165,900. We recognize the value of directly comparable experience. Candidates bringing recent experience performing equivalent work may be eligible for salary and benefit placement that reflects that experience, in accordance with organizational compensation policies.
