Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst is part of the corporate accounting team that support Extendicare’s lines of business and prepare reports for internal and external purposes and will be responsible for providing accurate and timely accounting and reporting, while ensuring that the company’s policies are being followed.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-motivated and possess high attention to detail while still being able to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. This position requires a team player who will be able to support their team towards the overall successful achievement of team goals.

This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario, with flexibility for in-office work as part of our hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities include:

• Execute period end closing activities as per the month-end close checklist
• Prepare journal entries and review expenses for any reclass entries required
• Complete account reconciliations and resolve unsupported variance in a timely manner
• Generate consolidated income statement comparing actuals and budget
• Collaborate with other finance team members.
• Additional Ad hoc and special projects as required

What we’re looking for:

• Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting
• 1-2 years of related work experience in accounting related role
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel is required
• Task oriented to meet required timelines with high quality result
• Strong communication skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
