JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title: Accounting Analyst

The Accounting Analyst supports the finance function within a large agribusiness operating across multiple legal entities and joint venture farm structures. This role assists with day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and basic analysis across individual farms and joint ventures. The position provides exposure to multi-entity accounting, capital-intensive agricultural operations, and internal reporting while building a strong foundation in core accounting skills.

 

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with general ledger entries, bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations across multiple farm and corporate entities
  • Support period-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for individual entities and joint ventures
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records by entity, cost center, and farm operation
  • Assist in the preparation of routine internal financial reports for management, farm partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Support the building, updating, and maintenance of entity-level and consolidated reporting schedules in Excel
  • Help ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and aligned across reporting entities
  • Track capital expenditures related to farm equipment, buildings, and infrastructure
  • Maintain CapEx (Capital Expenditure) schedules, expense documentation, and supporting files by project and location
  • Assist with reconciliation and periodic reporting of capital projects and fixed assets
  • Support basic variance analysis (budget vs. actuals) at the entity, farm, or joint venture level
  • Assist with data gathering for management reporting, planning, and quarterly performance reviews
  • Help identify trends, fluctuations, or unusual variances for review by senior finance staff
  • Assist with internal controls, audit preparation, and entity-level supporting schedules
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and joint venture documentation requirements
  • Support accurate use of accounting and ERP systems across multiple legal entities

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Agribusiness, a related field, or desire to pursue CPA designation program
  • 0–2 years of accounting or finance experience (co-op, internship, or entry-level role acceptable)
  • Exposure to agriculture, joint ventures, multi-entity organizations, or asset-intensive industries is an asset
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups, basic reconciliations, schedules)
  • Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems, SAP experience preferred.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy across multiple entities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in a deadline-driven environment
  • Willingness to learn complex ownership and reporting structures
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional and operational teams
