About the role

The Opportunity:

The branch works closely with officials across the Government of Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will provide leadership on program administration, enterprise systems functionality, data integrity, client experience and process efficiency. 

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a professional who can balance operations, innovation, supervision, project coordination and stakeholder service in a dynamic environment, while ensuring legislative and policy compliance in administration. 

You will also play an important role in identifying and supporting system changes, resolving complex issues, and providing analysis and recommendations to management and senior officials. 

The ideal candidate will bring in-depth knowledge of economic and financial analysis techniques, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead staff while managing multiple priorities. Experience interpreting legislation, improving processes, and working with enterprise systems such as the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS), Geomatics Information Systems (GIS) software, Quantrix Modeler, and advanced Excel features will be considered an asset

The Mineral Policy Branch within the Resource Development Division is responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining royalty and tax structures while working within the Acts and Regulations to ensure a competitive investment environment for the mining sector and to provide a fair return for the citizens of Saskatchewan.

  • Reviewing and updating regulatory and policy regimes to support industry investment, innovation, and resource development while building public confidence through transparency, accountability, and engagement.

  • Generating accurate economic and revenue forecasts for Government of Saskatchewan revenues to be collected from the Saskatchewan mining sector.

  • Engaging with the federal government, Saskatchewan ministries, and other stakeholders to advance the competitiveness, diversification, and growth of the Saskatchewan mining sector.

  • Managing the Clean-up of Abandoned Northern Sites (CLEANS), a multi-year, multi-million-dollar project aimed at assessing and remediating the Lorado, Gunner, and 36 satellite legacy uranium sites in northern Saskatchewan.

  • Approving Saskatchewan Mineral Exploration Tax Credit (SMETC) applications. This program provides an incentive to Saskatchewan residents to invest in Saskatchewan mineral exploration.

  • Managing the Institutional Control Program (ICP).
