Position: Senior Accountant Location: Denver, CO Overview: A fast-growing financial services firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Accounting team out in Denver, Colorado! The Senior Accountant will support and help manage day-to-day accounting activities for the firm, including general ledger account reconciliations, intercompany entries and reconciliations, vendor and contract management, journal entries, and monthly financial reporting. This role will also assist with financial planning and analysis, variance reporting, KPI tracking, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and self-motivated, with experience supporting accounting operations in a multi-company or high-growth environment. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys owning accounting processes, working cross-functionally with department leaders, and helping drive accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency within the finance function. NOTE: Only people who are currently living in Colorado will be considered for this role. Candidate will be based in Denver, CO. This position is a full-time position, working on-site at our Denver office. What you’ll do:
- Review monthly general ledger, bank, and credit card reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements.
- Assist with payroll and commission processing.
- Support treasury management activities.
- Drive and support the month-end close process.
- Prepare consolidation and intercompany entries as necessary.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly variance reports comparing actual results to budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Investigate and explain significant variances with input from department managers and leadership.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators to assess operational efficiency and financial health.
- Assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and payroll as needed.
- Complete 1099 analysis and preparation.
- Prepare and submit state and municipal tax filings.
- Assist with maintenance of accounting files, records, and documentation.
- Manage landlord payments and lease-related accounting items.
- Support vendor and contract management processes.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements and increased efficiency.
- Support special projects and other accounting or finance-related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 3–4 years of public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial statements, and month-end close processes.
- Experience with multi-company accounting preferred.
- Job offer is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation, inclusive of fingerprinting and reference checks.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Self-directed and self-motivated.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and support timely month-end close requirements.
- Professional discretion and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Strong follow-through and commitment to accuracy.
Prior experience in one or more of the following preferred:
- Public accounting.
- Financial services, investment advisory, banking, or insurance environments.
- Multi-company accounting or intercompany reconciliations.
- Financial planning and analysis, variance reporting, or KPI reporting.
- Payroll, commissions, accounts payable, or accounts receivable support.
- Accounting systems and tools such as QuickBooks Desktop, Bill.com, ADP, Salesforce, Fathom, and Microsoft Office.
What You’ll Get: Pay & Perks:
- Base salary range of $65,000 to $85,000 per year, based on experience.
