Overview of the role:
WestJet is seeking a Senior Fleet Transactions Specialist to play a pivotal role in managing our aircraft lease portfolio and supporting strategic fleet decisions that keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently. Reporting to the Director, Fleet Leasing & Transactions, you’ll collaborate across Treasury and key business functions to oversee the full lifecycle of our aircraft leases, from onboarding and administration to transactions and financial controls. This is an opportunity to bring both precision and innovation to a highly dynamic, high-impact area of the business. This role is an opportunity to shape how WestJet manages one of its most critical assets: its fleet. Your work will directly influence financial performance, operational readiness, and long-term strategic decisions.
Key deliverables include:
- Partner with cross-functional teams and external partners to manage the WestJet Group aircraft lease portfolio, ensuring contract compliance and seamless transaction execution
- Drive the development and enhancement of centralized tracking tools to improve visibility and control over lease management and compliance
- Plan and execute aircraft transaction workflows, including deliveries, redeliveries, retirements, lease returns, and modifications
- Lead lessor onboarding, ensuring smooth integration with procurement, finance, and payment systems
- Oversee accurate and timely processing of payments and reimbursements, resolving discrepancies and maintaining strong relationships with lessors
- Monitor and manage key lease milestones, including expiries and notification timelines, ensuring proactive compliance
- Build and maintain dashboards to track lease costs, identify savings opportunities, and inform strategic decisions
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across the lease lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with Technical Operations to support aircraft transitions, lessor readiness, and operational success
- Contribute to ad-hoc analysis, reporting, and special projects that support evolving business needs
Experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in aircraft leasing, aviation finance, asset management, or a related field
- Strong understanding of lease agreements, contract compliance, and financial processes (e.g., invoicing, reconciliations, reserves)
- Experience with financial systems and data tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A track record of identifying process improvements and driving automation and efficiency
