Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant manages daily accounting operations, prepares accurate monthly financial statements, and oversees reconciliations to ensure compliance with company standards and legal regulations. Responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and supports the Director of Finance and Assistant Controller with financial data analysis. This position provides future growth and development in the department. •Prepare, analyze, and report on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements. •Assist in developing yearly budgets, quarterly forecasts, and analyzing variances to improve financial performance. •Perform, review, and finalize bank reconciliations, and monitor daily revenue and expenses. •Maintain internal controls, monitor accounts payable/receivable, and identify areas to reduce costs. •Become proficient with ADP payroll system as designated back-up for bi-weekly ADP Payroll processing. •Involvement in month end closing entries ensuring accuracy of journal entries with proper support. •Assist in general ledger reconciliations ensuring schedules and support is accurate. •Support other facets within the accounting team during vacation or leave of absence coverage. •Assist in external and internal audits. •Liaison with other departments to ensure accounting procedures are followed and to be aware of any financial impacts to the property. •Involved in Income Audit, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Month End Closing. •Establishes checks and balances and policies and procedures applicable to all accounting positions. •Cross train accounting team members to ensure there is sufficient coverage for illness and vacation. •Ensure internal control systems are being followed. •Respond to External and Internal Audit reporting/coordinating requirements. •Attend and participate in regularly scheduled meetings required of the position •This job description is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job functions that an employee in this position may be asked to perform from time to time. Job Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is preferred. •Previous experience as an accountant in the hospitality industry is highly preferred. •Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Opera, ACCPAC sage), Micros (POS) and Excel. •CPA designation or in-progress status is preferred. •Hands-on ADP or similar payroll software experience preferred. •Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. •Excellent communication skills for interacting with department heads and management. •Ability to work under pressure during month-end closing. •Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

$65,000.00 to $70,000.00 CAD
