Job Summary

The Team
The Financial Clerk team is an established group of four dedicated professionals who support the financial operations of the District and Work Programs. Under the general supervision of the Office Manager, the team manages expenditure commitments, accounts payable transactions, invoicing, receivables, and financial activities related to the Inmate Benefit Fund and Inmate Trust Fund. Team members rotate through a variety of responsibilities, including payroll support, entering employee leaves into TOL, and providing administrative assistance to areas such as Purchasing, Switchboard, and the Sentence Management Unit.

The Role
In this role, you will provide key financial support services to a unit, branch, or region, helping ensure accurate and efficient financial operations. You will play an important part in maintaining financial integrity through tasks such as data entry, updating and maintaining financial records, processing employee and timekeeping information, and reconciling accounts. You will also support contract administration and respond to inquiries related to payroll and FTE utilization, helping to ensure timely and accurate resolution of issues. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of recent (within last five years) financial work experience or related experience; OR completion of secondary school (Grade 12).
  • Experience with MS Office computer applications: Word and Excel.
  • Experience with a computer based financial system.
  • Experience handling cash transactions.
  • Keyboarding proficiency at 40 wpm accuracy.
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License is required.

Related Experience may include:

  • Experience in basic accounting or bookkeeping.
  • CAS, TLAM, and/or CORNET experience.
  • Experience working in an office setting.
