Job Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Accounts Payable, process payment of invoices and employee reimbursements for the Durham District School Board in a timely manner and in compliance with applicable policies and procedures and internal controls.
Responsibilities
Process Invoices for Payment in a Timely Manner
Process payment of invoices and employee reimbursements for the Durham District School Board in a timely manner and in compliance with applicable policies and procedures and internal controls.
Liaise with Schools, Administrative Departments, Vendors, and Accounts Payable Staff
Respond to questions regarding outstanding purchase orders, payment or non-payment of invoices, general inquiries, etc. ; Follow-up with vendors regarding credits owing; Apply sound judgement in investigation of discrepancies between invoices and purchase orders; Request refund cheques from vendors, when necessary; Follow-up by phone with vendors, by calling the original phone number on file, to verify any vendor request to change their banking information.
Perform Other Duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor, Accounts Payable

Laptop, scanner, photocopier, printer, adding machine
Qualifications
Secondary school diploma with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in business or accounting, specifically involving the application of accounting principles and practices; Demonstrated experience working in an Accounts Payable environment, with the ability to accurately process high-volume and high-value transactions; Strong knowledge of accounts payable internal controls, with a proven commitment to adhering to established procedures to minimize the risk of fraud and error; High level of attention to detail and accuracy; Proficient with Microsoft Excel; Experience with the Oracle Accounts Payable module is an asset; Excellent organizational skills to prioritize a high volume of transactions and meet strict payment deadlines; Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member; Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a 35 hour per week, 12-month, permanent position.
