Senior Accountant Edmonton, AB
Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic, multi-entity environment and is looking to take on increasing responsibility while partnering closely with senior leadership.
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, month-end close activities, intercompany accounting, audit support, and continuous process improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting team members.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Accounting & Financial Reporting Oversee full-cycle accounting activities across multiple entities. Lead month-end close processes and ensure timely reporting. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and working papers. Review general ledger coding and maintain financial record accuracy. Prepare and review financial statements. Complete bank and credit card reconciliations. Manage GST/HST filings and supporting documentation. Support year-end audit activities, including auditor requests and schedules. Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior accounting staf f.Review work completed by team members and provide feedbac k.Partner closely with the Controller on reporting initiatives and special project s.Support team development and knowledge sharin g .
Process Improvemen
tIdentify and implement process improvemen ts.Develop and enhance accounting procedures and contro ls.Recommend efficiencies to improve workflow and reporting accura cy.Stay current on accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practic e s.
Qualifications
Required Experien
c e3–5+ years of progressive accounting experie nce.Strong full-cycle accounting experie nce.Experience leading month-end close activit ies.Experience preparing financial stateme nts.Strong intercompany accounting experie nce.Experience supporting year-end aud its.Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior st aff.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environm e nt.
Mandatory Requireme
nt sSome audit experience gained within a mid-size or large public accounting firm.Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related f i eld.
