Location: Toronto OR Winnipeg OR London (Hybrid)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office

Contract Duration: 6 months to start

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Appian Developer to support and enhance enterprise automation platforms in a production environment. This role is ideal for someone with deep Appian expertise who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving platform stability, and driving operational excellence. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining business-critical applications while contributing to continuous improvements, automation initiatives, and platform reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Provide advanced support for production applications, resolving complex Level 2 and Level 3 incidents within established service levels.

Investigate recurring issues by conducting root cause analysis and implementing permanent corrective actions.

Monitor application health, identify performance concerns, and recommend proactive improvements to increase reliability.

Support Appian-based workflow solutions, robotic process automation (RPA), and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) applications.

Coordinate production support activities, including incident resolution, defect management, change implementation, and ongoing maintenance.

Participate in release planning and deployment activities to minimize operational risk.

Develop and maintain operational documentation, support procedures, and knowledge articles.

Identify opportunities to automate manual support tasks and improve operational efficiency.

Collaborate with development, infrastructure, business, and support teams to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

Mentor junior team members by sharing technical expertise, troubleshooting techniques, and operational best practices.

Promote adherence to security, governance, and support standards while providing regular updates on platform health and operational risks.

Required Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and supporting applications using the Appian platform.

Strong hands-on expertise with Appian Workflow, Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

Extensive experience supporting production environments, including L2/L3 incident management, operational support, and root cause investigation.

Experience maintaining and enhancing low-code enterprise applications in live production environments.

Knowledge of data modelling principles and integrating enterprise applications with ERP, legacy, and third-party systems.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize operational support activities while managing incidents, enhancements, defects, and change requests.

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a focus on long-term system stability and performance optimization.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Familiarity with collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and ServiceNow.

Appian Senior or Lead Developer certification is considered an asset.

Experience within highly regulated industries is preferred.
