Job Title: Business and Quality Control Analyst, Financial Services Division: Financial Services


Overview of the role:

We are accepting applications for this current vacancy from qualified candidates for an in-office position in Toronto and/or Hamilton.

Role Overview:

This role combines the analytical strengths of a Business Analyst with underwriting expertise in the residential alternative mortgage industry.

The successful candidate will support operational efficiency by optimizing connectivity with broker platforms and standardizing corporate documentation for alternative lending products across regional office hubs.

The role is responsible for reviewing file documentation, rationale, accuracy, and completeness before funding, in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of residential underwriting and/or quality control or quality assurance experience within the mortgage industry. Minimum of 2 years of Business Analyst experience within financial services. Ability to understand financial statements and assess financial viability. Experience with Portfolio Plus, Filogix Expert, Newton Velocity, and Lendesk is considered an asset. Proven experience authoring policies, procedures, and training manuals. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively identify risks and issues and recommend practical solutions. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and concurrent deadlines. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure file complies with underwriting standards and guidelines prior to funding. Perform pre-funding file reviews and audits, approving files for funding or providing observations and findings to Underwriters or Mortgage Fulfillment Officers. Ensure turnaround times, service levels, and priorities are met to support timely file funding. Provide collaborative feedback to the Underwriting team on the interpretation of guidelines, policies, and procedures. Gather, analyze, and document business requirements. Support broker platform integration by optimizing data flows from Filogix Expert, Newton Velocity, and Lendesk. Write standard operating procedures for residential mortgage lending. Map process workflows to improve operational clarity and efficiency. Maintain documentation repositories, ensuring policies are kept current for annual audits.
