Role Overview The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organization and providing strategic financial leadership to support business growth and profitability. This role manages accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, inventory accounting, and compliance activities while ensuring the integrity of the company’s financial information. The Financial Controller works closely with the executive team to develop financial strategies, optimize business performance, support decision-making, and ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements. The role also provides leadership to the finance team and maintains relationships with external financial partners, lenders, and advisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory accounting and general ledger activities. Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports and supporting analysis for leadership. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements and regulatory obligations. Maintain and continuously improve financial controls, policies and procedures. Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting activities. Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying risks,opportunities and recommendations. Develop and maintain short- and long-term cash flow forecasts monitoring working capital and liquidity requirements Manage banking relationships, financing facilities and lender reporting requirements ensuring compliance with all financing agreements and covenants. Oversee inventory valuation and costing processes. Analyze product costs, margins and profitability by product category and customer. Support Operations with inventory management and cost reduction initiatives. Ensure inventory reporting and controls remain accurate and effective. Coordinate annual tax filings with external advisors. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Lead, mentor and develop the accounting and finance team. Establish departmental objectives and performance metrics. Partner with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain and Marketing teams to support business objectives. Other projects and initiatives as assigned by Management.
Required Skills & Qualifications CPA designation preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls and cash flow management. Experience with inventory and cost accounting within a manufacturing, consumer packaged goods or nutraceutical environment is considered an asset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems (QuickBooks). Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
Additional Information Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 per year depending on experience Bonus: Eligible for annual discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance Benefits: Comprehensive health and dental benefits, vacation entitlement, and monthly product allowance. Work Model: This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days in office
