About the role
Senior Accountant Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide corporate accounting and financial reporting support across various business functions. This role will be responsible for managing key accounting activities, supporting month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls. The successful candidate will have a strong background in corporate accounting, experience with financial reporting processes, and the ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, and provide recommendations to support business decisions. Key Responsibilities: Manage and support daily corporate accounting activities, including financial reporting, transaction reviews, and accounting inquiries. Lead and support monthly and quarterly financial close activities, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, cost allocations, and account adjustments. Monitor credit-related activities, including credit exposure, utilization, and reporting requirements. Prepare and analyze financial reports, expense analyses, and variance reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information. Perform account reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliations, to support accurate reporting and consolidation processes. Review financial transactions to ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal control procedures. Review expense reports, investigate discrepancies, and provide recommendations to management. Support payment processing activities and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions. Coordinate internal and external audit requests, including preparation of supporting documentation and audit schedules. Maintain and support internal control documentation, including SOX compliance requirements where applicable. Assist with fixed asset accounting, tax-related entries, and other corporate accounting responsibilities. Support preparation of financial statements, consolidation packages, annual budgets, and business planning materials. Identify opportunities for process improvements and support automation initiatives using financial reporting tools and technology. Provide accounting guidance and support to internal departments and business stakeholders. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA designation or actively working towards obtaining a CPA designation is preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, or a similar role. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and month-end close processes. Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial analyses. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience working with corporate accounting systems and ERP platforms. SAP experience considered a strong asset. Experience with financial consolidation systems, Power BI, and/or Power Automate considered an asset. Additional Requirements: Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal. Proactive and detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset. Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.
