Senior Functional Testing Analyst – (Treasury/QRM) Location: Toronto, ON

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — 4 days on-site

Contract Details Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 1 year (with potential for extension; conversion to permanent possible) Pay Rate: C$60.00–C$80.00 / Hour (CAD) Shift / Schedule: Monday to Friday — core business hours Travel Requirements: Not required

Job Summary This role will work in close partnership with business, data, and technology stakeholders to analyze requirements, validate business processes, test solutions, and ensure data integrity across QRM and supporting platforms. The scope of the project is a Treasury transformation and QRM implementation within a team of approximately 50. The ideal candidate combines strong Quality Assurance and Functional Testing experience with expertise in data analysis, reconciliation, and enterprise technology delivery. Experience in QRM, Treasury, Risk Management, ALM, FTP, IRR, or other large-scale data-intensive financial platforms is highly desirable. The strongest candidate is likely a senior functional QA/BSA hybrid who can sit with Treasury stakeholders and challenge a result that "looks wrong" in ALM, FTP, forecasting, or reporting, rather than someone whose primary strength is automation testing. The successful candidate will combine functional testing expertise, strong data analysis and reconciliation skills, and the ability to understand Treasury business processes and challenge results that do not align with expected business outcomes. We want someone who can validate results and challenge outcomes, not just execute test scripts.

Key Responsibilities Collaborate with business and technology teams to understand requirements, business processes, and system functionality. Analyze functional and non-functional requirements and develop comprehensive testing strategies and validation approaches. Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, system, end-to-end, and regression test scenarios. Perform detailed validation of data ingestion, transformation, processing, reporting, and downstream consumption layers. Execute data comparisons, reconciliations, and investigative analysis across multiple systems and environments. Validate dashboards, reports, business metrics, calculations, and reporting outputs against business expectations. Utilize SQL and Databricks to perform testing, troubleshooting, reconciliation, and root cause analysis activities. Partner with Business Analysts, Developers, Data Engineers, and Product Owners to clarify requirements and resolve defects. Support defect triage, impact assessments, retesting, and release readiness activities. Support production readiness activities, including validation of release scope, testing evidence, defect disposition, and business sign-off requirements. Maintain testing documentation, test evidence, traceability, and governance artifacts to support audit and compliance requirements. Create process flows, test models, data validation approaches, and quality artifacts using Confluence, Visio, and related tools. Author and maintain testing assets, user stories, requirements traceability, and quality documentation using Jira and Confluence. Participate actively within Agile delivery pods and provide end-to-end quality ownership throughout the delivery lifecycle. Utilize AI-enabled tools to improve test analysis, test design, test coverage assessment, data validation, and documentation activities. Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes, quality controls, automation, and delivery effectiveness.

Required Skills Functional Testing & Quality Assurance

Minimum 7 years of experience in Functional Testing, QA Analysis, Data Testing, or related testing disciplines. Proven ability to analyze requirements and translate business rules into test scenarios, test cases, and validation activities. Strong understanding of Functional Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, End-to-End Testing, Regression Testing, and User Acceptance Testing support. Experience supporting Agile delivery and working within sprint-based pod teams. Ability to interpret process flows, data lineage, source-to-target mappings, reconciliation models, and system interaction diagrams to support testing and validation activities.

Data Analysis & Reconciliation

Demonstrated deep experience in analyzing and reconciling large datasets to validate business processes, reporting outputs, calculations, and system integrations. Strong experience investigating data discrepancies and performing root cause analysis. Experience validating financial calculations, allocations, balances, forecasts, rates, and reporting outputs against expected business results. Experience executing source-to-target, ingress-to-egress, upstream-to-downstream, and cross-system reconciliation activities. Ability to validate control totals, aggregates, balances, calculations, and reporting outputs.

SQL & Databricks

Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently investigate data issues, validate business rules, perform reconciliations, and support root cause analysis across large and complex datasets. Hands-on experience using Databricks SQL or similar analytics platforms for data validation and investigative analysis. Experience validating data ingestion, transformations, business rules, and reporting outputs. Understanding of data lineage, mappings, and reconciliation methodologies.

Requirements & Traceability

Proven ability to translate business requirements into testable conditions and maintain end-to-end traceability. Experience defining test data requirements and validating test coverage across complex business scenarios, edge cases, and exception conditions. Experience leveraging Jira and Confluence to manage testing activities, requirements, defects, and documentation. Experience developing and maintaining testing artifacts, traceability matrices, and quality evidence.

Test Governance & Defect Management

Experience executing and managing defect life cycles including identification, logging, triage, retesting, and closure. Ability to support quality gates, release readiness reviews, and testing governance processes. Strong understanding of testing standards, controls, and audit-ready documentation.

Stakeholder Management

Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills across business and technology teams. Ability to identify gaps, ambiguities, inconsistencies, and testability concerns within business and functional requirements. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Developers, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders. Ability to identify unexpected results, challenge assumptions, and investigate discrepancies through collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.

Preferred Skills Experience testing QRM, Treasury, ALM, FTP, IRR, Risk Management, Regulatory Reporting, or other risk management platforms. Knowledge of financial products, balance sheet management, and interest rate risk concepts. Experience with Databricks notebooks, Python, PowerShell, or comparable scripting technologies. Experience validating dashboards and reporting solutions using Tableau and/or Power BI. Experience creating source-to-target mappings, reconciliation models, and data lineage documentation. Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and control validation methodologies. Experience with cloud-based data platforms and enterprise integration patterns. 5 years of experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Experience performing data comparisons, reconciliations, and investigative analysis across large and complex datasets. Solid understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Testing Life Cycle, including requirements analysis, testing, defect management, and implementation. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to convert business requirements into comprehensive test scenarios and validation approaches. Ability to effectively leverage AI-enabled tools to improve analysis, test design, documentation, and productivity. Experience creating process flows, data flows, reconciliation models, and system interaction diagrams. Working knowledge of APIs, system integrations, databases, and data movement across applications. Experience working within Agile delivery teams and pod-based delivery models. Strong stakeholder engagement skills across Business, Data, Risk, Treasury, and Technology teams.

Education Requirements Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related discipline (nice to have — not mandatory).
