About the role
Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Remote - Canada Salary: CAD $165,000–$185,000 Industry: FinTech
About the Opportunity Our client is a remote-first Canadian technology company in a high-growth phase. We're partnering with them to hire a Director of Finance to own the finance function end-to-end. This is the senior-most finance seat in the business, reporting directly to the CEO. You'll inherit an established team with a mandate to run day-to-day finance, then modernize it. Much of the function runs manually on spreadsheets today, and this role owns rebuilding it with an AI-and-automation-first approach so the company can scale without a proportional increase in headcount. You'll take responsibility for day-to-day processing and build a working command of the numbers. From there the mandate shifts to modeling, forecasting, investor reporting, and standing up the automation that lets the team self-serve.

What You Bring 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience Experience in a SaaS startup or high-growth tech environment Hands-on ownership of at least one automated finance system you selected, built, and still maintain Experience with non-standard transaction flows Strong FP&A and modeling skills that have influenced real executive decisions, leading with the recommendation before the detail A clear instinct to reach for AI/automation over manual work, with the judgment to validate output before relying on it Comfort operating with high autonomy in ambiguity, surfacing blockers early with a recommended path forward
