About the role

Position Summary: The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions through the preparation and analysis of balance sheet accounts, month-end close activities, cost accounting support, financial reporting, and variance analysis. This role works closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information while supporting continuous process improvement and internal control initiatives.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst serves as a key contributor to month-end reporting, balance sheet management, and financial analysis within a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment.

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules. Analyze balance sheet accounts and investigate variances or unusual transactions. Ensure timely resolution of reconciling items and outstanding balances. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities. Assist with maintaining fixed asset, prepaid, accrual, and intercompany schedules. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. Prepare and post journal entries accurately and on a timely basis. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting reports. Support general ledger maintenance and account analysis. Participate in audit preparation and provide supporting documentation for internal and external auditors. Assist with process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures. Support compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Assist with inventory and cost accounting activities. Support inventory reconciliations and costing analyses. Monitor manufacturing variances and investigate unusual trends. Assist with inventory counts and related reporting requirements. Prepare financial reports, trend analyses, and variance explanations. Support budgeting and forecasting activities as required. Analyze financial data to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost efficiencies. Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to management. Assist with daily cash positioning and monitoring of cash balances across multiple bank accounts and jurisdictions. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cash reports for management review. Support short-term and long-term cash flow forecasting activities. Monitor cash receipts and disbursements to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs. Identify opportunities to improve cash utilization and working capital efficiency. Process wire transfers, EFT payments, and other banking transactions. Coordinate banking administration activities including account maintenance, signatory updates, and banking documentation. Support bank reconciliations and investigate cash-related discrepancies. Assist in managing banking relationships and responding to lender information requests. Maintain treasury records and supporting documentation. Support debt compliance reporting and covenant monitoring. Assist with interest calculations, debt schedules, and financing analyses. Prepare supporting documentation for lender reporting requirements. Monitor foreign exchange exposures and assist with treasury risk management initiatives. Support corporate insurance administration, renewals, claims tracking, and policy documentation. Prepare treasury dashboards, liquidity reports, and cash forecasting analyses. Assist with treasury policy documentation and internal control procedures. Support treasury management system and ERP process enhancements. Participate in treasury process automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience. Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or multi-site environments preferred. Strong understanding of general accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and audit support.

Language & Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prepare clear and concise financial reports and analyses. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. Professional and confidential handling of financial information.

Physical Working Environment: Primarily office-based environment with extended periods of sitting and computer use. Frequent use of computers, financial systems, and multiple monitors. Occasional attendance at meetings with internal stakeholders and external banking partners. Ability to work additional hours during month-end, quarter-end, year-end, budgeting, and audit periods as required.
