The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Standard & Cost Model Specialist to join our Finance team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position for an existing vacancy.
In this role you will shape financial strategy, influence key business decisions, and drive value across Vale's Ontario Operations. This role will lead the development of standardized financial frameworks, cost models, and operational evaluations that support strategic planning, business performance, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Finance, Operations, Technical Services, and Supply Chain teams, you will play a critical role in advancing financial discipline, enhancing decision-making capabilities, and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency across the business.
Additionally, in this position you will:
Lead initiatives that drive business value, cost optimization, operational performance, and financial decision-making. Develop, maintain, and govern Ontario Operations First Principles Cost Review (FPCR) and Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) models and frameworks. Standardize cost structures, cost center reporting, and financial processes across Ontario Operations to improve transparency, consistency, and benchmarking. Provide financial leadership for operational evaluations, business cases, scenario planning, and strategic investment decisions impacting profitability and production. Drive continuous improvement, reporting standardization, financial controls, and best practices across the Ontario Operations FP&A function. Lead cross-functional special projects, evaluating financial impacts, challenging assumptions, and ensuring successful implementation of value-generating initiatives. Partner with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Technical Services, and Business Planning teams to support integrated business planning and long-term strategic objectives. Ensure compliance with financial policies, governance requirements, and cost-management standards while fostering a culture of accountability and financial discipline.

About You
Education:
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economy, Business, Finance or a related field. Professional accreditation such as P. Eng., MBA, CPA an asset.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in related role.
Skills:
ERP, database, and spreadsheet proficiency Cross-functional communication and stakeholder management System implementation and process improvement expertise Collaboration, leadership, and influencing skills Finance and Operations experience Change management and continuous improvement capabilities Ability to inspire engagement and drive change initiatives
