Job Description Summary The Buyer/Outside Processing Coordinator coordinates outside processing orders. This position is for an existing vacancy and responsible for meeting quality, delivery, and specification requirements at the lowest possible cost. In addition, this individual will assist in sourcing new suppliers, negotiate prices/terms and conditions, assess supplier performance, request corrective action when required, and expedite material orders to ensure timely and economical completion of customer requirements. This position is in Avio Aero’s Procurement Department, and reports to the Material Team Lead. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time non-exempt position. Job Description Essential Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Avio Aero, from time to time. Issues purchase orders, coordinates and monitors the flow of work and materials to and from outside processing sub-contractors Prepare and maintain various reports on the progress of supplier performance Balance current and future demand requirements with suppliers: MRP messages, expedite request, scrapping, and spike in demand per the customer’s request Compare competitive bidding documentation, evaluate supplier’s quotations and assist in selection of sources Negotiate contractual terms regarding quantity, price, delivery, quality, and other standard or special contract terms Coordinate with Accounts Payable department on billing and/or credit issues Coordinate the return, rework, or exchange of defective materials Assist with supplier quality issues: Arrange supplier visits and/or weekly calls for updates on the status of quality issues. Assist suppliers in RCCA’s and scheduling with their subcontractors Support cost reduction projects and improvement initiatives to achieve overall business objectives Coordinate with Customs and Logistics to move jobs between subcontractors and the site; prepare final shipment documents with logistics providers (packing slips, commercial invoices) to support on-time shipment to customers. Perform other job-related duties as required by management/business Qualifications/Requirements Education Required: 4-year Degree in a Business discipline (such as Business, Finance/Accounting, or Supply Chain Management) and specific industry experience. Experience Required: 3 years of Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment with an emphasis in aerospace. Desired Characteristics The knowledge, skills and abilities required and/or preferred for this position are listed below. Understanding of negotiation techniques and tactics Knowledge of heat treating, machining, and plating industry specific procurement requirements General understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding purchasing, logistics, incoming product inspection, inventory control, and quality parts Knowledge of Controlled Goods and DFAR Excellent communication and project management skills Ability to interface professionally and effectively with other departments and all levels of management including senior level leadership Ability to work independently and exercise sound independent judgment on matters of importance to Aero Avio’s operations Ability to work as part of a team with little or no supervision Physical Requirements The physical requirements of this position are listed below.
