Job Description
WKR is seeking a Senior Accountant to take a hands-on approach to all accounting functions ranging from processing transactions to preparing financial statements, treasury functions, budgeting, bookkeeping, audit support, regulatory compliance and decision-making support. Key Duties Include:
• Manage full-cycle accounting under ASPE, including journal entries, reconciliations and month-end close. • Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements and provide audit support. • Manage the end-to-end procure-to-pay process, including invoice processing, approvals and payments. • Oversee accounts payable, ensuring accuracy, proper coding and strong audit trails. • Manage cash flow, banking and treasury activities, including cash forecasting and payments. • Complete claims to funding partners ensuring adherence to specific contribution agreements. • Assist in preparation of funding applications. • Project accounting and support: assisting with project documentation and cost tracking for construction activities. • Process payroll and ensure accuracy and timeliness of employee compensation. • Manage government remittances, including payroll-related filings and GST filings and payments. • Maintain and reconcile bank accounts and credit card transactions • Track and report on costs against budgets. • Establish and maintain internal controls across purchasing, payments, payroll and cash management. • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows. • Assist in reviewing IT systems improvements or system upgrades.
Qualifications:
• CPA designation (or working towards) with 3-5+ years of hands-on accounting experience – experience in construction is an asset. • Strong knowledge of ASPE and full-cycle accounting. • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Quickbooks, or similar) and advanced Excel skills. • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities independently. • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and willingness to take ownership of tasks from start to finish. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a small, close-knit team.

About West Kitikmeot Resources Corp
We are building an Inuit owned and led resources company, developing the Kitikmeot for the benefit of the Kitikmeot Inuit.
West Kitikmeot Resource Corp's largest shareholder is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association ("KIA"). The KIA is a democratically elected not-for-profit society that represents the Inuit of the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut.
The Nunavut Land Claims Agreement and the Nunavut Act established Nunavut as a Territory and vested the Inuit of Nunavut with title to approximately 350,000 km2 of land, of which 35,257 km2 include mineral rights. The Kitkimeot Inuit were subsequently able to select areas of the highest mineral potential as Inuit Owned Lands.
West Kitikmeot Resources Corp was formed in 2014 to finance and execute mineral exploration primarily on these Inuit Owned Lands, and has entered into Mineral Exploration Agreements with Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated to gain access to these lands.
In February 2022, a group of investors with substantial Northern and mining experience recapitalized WKR with new investment to accelerate the work of the company.
In November 2023, WKR announced an agreement with Canada and KIA, making WKR the proponent of the Grays Bay Road and Port Project.
