The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to join our consulting team and support a strategic software engineering initiative within the insurance industry. This role sits at the intersection of business analysis, software development, and AI-enabled innovation, helping bridge the gap between business stakeholders, software engineers, and data science teams. The ideal candidate understands how modern applications are built and delivered and can effectively translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements. Exposure to AI, machine learning, predictive analytics, or intelligent automation initiatives is highly valued, particularly in data-driven environments. What You'll Do Business Analysis & Requirements Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for software development initiatives. Translate business objectives into user stories, use cases, process flows, functional specifications, and non-functional requirements. Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and engineering teams. Support backlog refinement, prioritization, and requirements clarification within Agile delivery teams. Software Engineering Collaboration Partner with developers, architects, QA specialists, and DevOps teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and technically feasible. Document system integrations, APIs, application workflows, and data flows. Participate in solution design discussions and provide business-focused input into technical decisions. Validate delivered solutions against business objectives, requirements, and expected outcomes. AI & Data-Driven Enablement Support initiatives involving machine learning models, AI-driven functionality, automation, and intelligent workflows. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, decision-making, customer experience, and operational effectiveness through technology. Define and document AI-related use cases, including business value, risks, constraints, and success metrics. Collaborate with technical teams to establish requirements related to data inputs, model outputs, explainability, governance, and compliance. Delivery & Stakeholder Management Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog grooming. Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and working groups with business and technical stakeholders. Ensure alignment among solution scope, delivery timelines, and business priorities. Support documentation, change management, and end-user readiness activities. What You Bring to the Table 5-10+ years of experience as an IT Business Analyst supporting software engineering, application development, or technology transformation initiatives. Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery environments. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organization skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Core Skills Required Business requirements gathering and analysis. User story creation and acceptance criteria definition. Process mapping and workflow documentation. Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, system architectures, and data flows. Agile delivery methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe). Stakeholder management and facilitation. Requirements validation and solution testing support.
