Position Information
With an annual budget of over $2B, the Ottawa Hospital is a large complex organization, one of the largest of its kind in Canada.
The Financial Analyst reports to the Accounting Supervisor and plays a key role in fostering collaboration and driving efficiencies within the Financial Services Team.
The role is responsible for the tracking, recording, and analysis of all cash, receivable, payable, and deferred balances associated with Ministry of Health (MOH) funding at The Ottawa Hospital, including the monthly update and analysis of MOH cash flows, receivables, revenue, and deferred balances. The Analyst will also prepare and submit MOH reporting deliverables, including both recurring annual requirements and ad hoc requests.
In addition, the Analyst supports the Accounting Team by preparing and recording complex accounting transactions, reconciling higher-risk accounts, validating data for accuracy and integrity, and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses prepared by Accountants, as required. The role also acts as a key lead for the year-end audit of TOH and its related parties.
Rotation/Shifts
Days, 8 hour shifts. *For information purposes only - The Hospital reserves the right to change.
Salary Range $80,414.10 - $97,835.40/Annually
Basic Requirements
Completion of a University Degree, or equivalent; CPA (CA, CMA or CGA) or equivalent experience; Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial analysis in a large, complex environment; Strong systems skills including spreadsheets, reporting tools, and databases; Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly as it relates to systems and processes; Sound judgement and initiative; Excellent communication skills, written and oral; Results oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively manage time to successfully meet strict deadlines; Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with a large ERP financial system (ORACLE); Experience with The Microsoft Power Platform, specifically, The Power Query App and Power Automate; Experience with Hyperion Planning & Essbase; Knowledge of CIHI-MIS guidelines; Experience working with and preparing Ministry of Health (MOH) reporting, including: Hospital Consolidation Reporting (HCR), Self Reporting Initiative (SRI); Experience preparing Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) returns and filings: (HST Returns, Sales Tax Rebate Applications, NPO Returns); Experience preparing Payroll Remuneration Annual Returns: Employer Health Tax (EHT) Return, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) Reconciliation;
