Position: VP, Technology – Premier Group

Location: Any Office Location (Vancouver, Toronto) - Hybrid

Reports to: President & COO, Premier Group

Role Overview

Reporting to the President & COO, the VP, Technology for Premier has overall accountability for technology solutions to support business strategies and meet business needs for the organization. This individual will partner with business colleagues to develop and drive business strategies for Premier as well as to ensure delivery of quality strategic and tactical IT initiatives.

We recognize that the role of technology is a critical ingredient to our success given the rapidly changing landscape in the insurance industry, and more broadly within financial services.

The VP, Technology will possess exceptional leadership skills to motivate, mentor, and shape a highly talented, diverse team, to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

Influencing and directing strategy development, planning, and management of critical projects through the use of technology, process, and innovation. Understanding business operations, strategies, and processes to guide the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions that support business objectives. Supporting all key programs by aligning critical projects and associated outcomes with the mission, vision, and values. Recommending cost effective and efficient solutions-based information technology trends and approving funding of all projects and investments. Leading and engaging your team to deliver strategic objectives through effective coaching and mentoring, identifying and developing emerging talent, and fostering an innovative, collaborative, and agile culture.

What To Expect

Detail oriented work that requires a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time. As a leader, strict confidentiality is required with respect to sensitive matters and employees’ personal information. You will travel occasionally. You use strong judgement and interpersonal skills to build relationships internally and work effectively with people at all levels of the organization. You will be subject to a Criminal Record and Consumer History background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.

Qualifications

You have at least 10 years of people leadership experience in Technology, including experience leading teams in technology or application development. You have a proven track record of successful project delivery and the ability to achieve high levels of employee engagement. You initiate new strategies to capitalize on opportunities and lead the implementation of organizational change. Strong analytical, organizational skills, written and oral communication skills. You integrate complex information to identify solutions or solve problems using critical thinking and apply a strategic mindset to adjust business plans. You foster innovation and continuous improvement with a focus on client experience. You create a high-performance culture through alignment of your team’s work with organizational goals and successfully convey messages with a sense of positive advocacy. Deep knowledge of change management, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and implementing permanent resolutions for issues. Project delivery experiences an asset.

Business Expertise

Financial Services (Banking and/or Insurance and/or MGA experience) an asset, including an understanding of insurance products and claims processes. External industry/product knowledge. Business/legal regulatory issues. Experience working with both in-house teams and vendor experts. This role impacts financial performance, client experience and business reputation There is an expectation to make improvements and re-evaluate processes to create more effective and efficient operations.

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to effectively prioritize and balance between competing priorities. Communicates and collaborates closely with a wide group of key stakeholders, including but not limited to, business sponsors, business product owners, technology solution designers, tech leads, as well as vendor partners to identify and pursue opportunities to continuously improve the Guidewire suite of applications. Proven ability to build and maintain trust with peers and stakeholders.

Compensation

Based on qualifications of applicant pay grade may vary from $195,000 to $230,000 annually.
