TekStaff's Client has a current vacancy for a"Advisor" Job Description Senior Advisor, Pension Fund The Senior Advisor, Pension Fund provides analytical, reporting and operational support for the oversight and day-to-day management of the clients Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) Pension Plans (the Plans). Key Responsibilities Portfolio Oversight & Analytics Conduct ongoing monitoring of public and private markets investment managers. Review quarterly reports, capital account statements, and investment manager disclosures; identify key themes, risks, and performance drivers and produce concise monthly/quarterly summaries. Evaluate investment manager performance relative to benchmarks, peer groups, and stated investment philosophy and process; escalate concerns with clear recommendations. Support portfolio construction activities relating to private markets, including pacing analysis, commitment planning, vintage diversification, sector/geography concentration, and liquidity forecasting for private market investments. Support portfolio construction and management for public market investments, including asset allocation, position sizing, sector and geographic diversification, factor/style exposure analysis, rebalancing, and portfolio liquidity optimization. Develop and maintain dashboards for commitments, NAV, unfunded commitments, cash flows, fees, and exposure metrics for private market investments. Provide analytical support for the DC Plan, including governance reporting, vendor coordination, and service-level monitoring. Support oversight of recordkeeper and DC investment options (lineup monitoring, performance, fees, and default fund frameworks where applicable). Assist with DC analytics (as applicable): participation, contribution rates, default usage, and investment option utilization trends. Ensure timely processing and coordination for DC-related deliverables, audits, and external information requests. Due Diligence & Manager Research Participate in due diligence for new and existing public and private markets investment managers, including investment/operational due diligence, interviews, reference checks, and analysis of track records. Support investment manager lifecycle activities: onboarding, mandate changes, watch-listing, terminations, and transition planning. Assist in drafting investment due diligence memos, committee materials, and summary documents that clearly articulate thesis, risks, and deal terms. Support negotiation and review of legal/contractual documentation (e.g., Investment Management Agreements, Limited Partnership Agreements, side letters, subscription docs) in coordination with internal partners and external counsel. Risk Reporting, Liability Management and ESG Produce and enhance recurring portfolio risk reporting (e.g., risk decomposition, factor exposures, concentration, liquidity—aligned with the Fund’s framework). Conduct scenario analysis and stress testing; summarize key risk themes and recommend actions for discussion. Maintain and improve dashboards and reporting packages; ensure documentation, controls, and data accuracy, timeliness, and reporting automation. Support funded status monitoring and liability analytics (interest rate and inflation sensitivity, contribution/benefit cash flows). Contribute to Asset Liability Management-related materials including assumptions tracking, results summaries, and recommendations for governance committees. Coordinate actuarial and investment inputs for cross-functional reporting and planning cycles. Manage ESG data collection, validation, and reporting across investment managers and service providers. Support ESG integration processes: manager ESG assessments, engagement summaries, proxy voting dashboards (where applicable), and policy alignment tracking. Draft committee-ready narratives summarizing ESG risks/opportunities (e.g., climate/transition, controversies, and progress against ESG objectives). Coordinate, prepare, collate, and deliver materials for pension, investment, and risk committee meetings under tight deadlines. Provide regular reporting and prepare presentations for the Pension Division and Management Pension Committee. Ensure the Plans meet all regulatory, reporting, and compliance requirements; support audits, reviews, and ad hoc information requests. Coordinate responses to internal and external inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of information. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers (e.g., managers, custodian, consultants) to ensure effective execution of deliverables. Operations, Cash & Relationship Management Track capital calls, distributions, management and performance fees; initiate required administrative actions and ensure timely processing. Work with the DB Plan’s custodian and provide directions on day-to-day operations of the DB Plan, including reconciliations and settlement follow-ups. Support cash management to ensure liquidity is maintained for plan expenses and benefit payments, including private markets cash flow forecasting. Ensure timely and correct payment to vendors, investment managers and other service providers. Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with key service providers, both internal and external, especially investment managers, custodian and consultants to the Fund. Ensure the Fund meets applicable regulatory, reporting and compliance requirements, support internal audits and ad hoc information requests. Co-ordinate, prepare, collate and upload meeting materials for various pension committee meetings. Skills & Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline. 3–5 years of relevant experience at a pension fund, investment consultant, private markets platform, fund-of-funds, or asset manager. Strong working knowledge of private markets concepts: commitment structures, capital calls/distributions, J-curve, PME, DPI/RVPI/TVPI, and fees & carry. High degree of initiative, accountability, and independent judgment to identify issues, develop recommendations, and ensure timely execution and follow-through on assigned responsibilities. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work within established deadlines. Strong communication skills to prepare clear reports, presentations, and committee materials, and to communicate effectively with internal and external partners. Proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint/programming; ability to synthesize data into committee-ready narratives. Familiarity with private market analytics tools (iLevel) along with other industry tools including Bloomberg and NEXEN.
