Position: Senior Financial Analyst - Corporate Finance and Control

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation Details:

  • Acct. & Financial Analysis 18: Salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of two or three in-office days per week, increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change).
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:

Corporate Finance and Control is a collaborative group that provides complex financial analysis, reporting under IFRS, taxation compliance and business reporting for EDC. Our group is hiring new members to help us meet the needs of our internal customers and is looking for innovative people interested in changing the status-quo for the betterment of this growing and evolving organization.

We are currently looking to fill positions on our Treasury and Investment Accounting team.

As the newest addition to our team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to combine their solid accounting skills with a big picture understanding of business results and the related drivers to provide value-added and timely insights to our customers. This includes Integrating data across systems to deliver insightful analysis, link financial results to business and economic drivers, and drive continuous improvement in reporting through collaboration and technology.

What you will be doing:

  • Reaches beyond received data to review and analyze results with a critical eye for meeting financial reporting requirements and a willingness to challenge others as needed.
  • Demonstrates strong intellectual curiosity and judgment by linking financial results to underlying business, portfolio structures, and economic drivers.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance underlying data, definitions, and structures to improve accuracy, consistency, and understandability of financial insights and management reporting.
  • Drives continuous improvement by challenging processes, collaborating across teams, and leveraging technology and data to enhance insights and reporting quality.
  • Explains difficult/complex issues in a manner that fosters mutual respect, uses tact and diplomacy to persuade others to adopt a point of view. Prepares communications and presentations for senior leadership to share insights on both a scheduled and ad-hoc basis.
  • Provides insights for financial and non-financial stakeholders through variance analysis, forecasting and long-range planning.
  • Provides financial accounting and prepares financial statements, notes to the financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS and approves journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Participates in various system implementation or enhancement projects, including consulting, recommending, and implementing reporting requirements.
  • Researches and interprets new accounting standards/guidelines to assess potential impacts on financial reporting and accounting activities.
  • Provides advice on internal control issues and recommends and implements reporting enhancements.

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or other relevant discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation such as CPA or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business, accounting and/or financial analysis.
  • Experience working with large, complex databases.
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI, Power Query and DAX.
  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS, accounting and financial analysis principles and practices.
  • Excellent MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint capabilities

What will make you stand out:

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS 9 and IFRS 13
  • Experience in auditing financial transactions
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with queries, report writing, data visualization and presenting results using MS PowerPoint.
