IT Data Modeler Toronto- Hybrid Contract
Position Summary The IT Data Modeler is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data models that support insurance operations, reporting, analytics, underwriting, claims, policy administration, risk management, and regulatory reporting. The role requires strong expertise in insurance data concepts, relational database design, data modeling methodologies, and data governance practices. Key Responsibilities Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Create models for Policy, Claims, Billing, Customer, Broker, Risk, Coverage, and Reinsurance domains. Develop dimensional models for reporting and analytics. Maintain source-to-target mappings, metadata, and data dictionaries. Support database optimization, data quality, governance, audit, and compliance initiatives. Collaborate with Business, Architecture, Engineering, and Analytics teams. Required Qualifications 5+ years Data Modeling and Database Design experience. 3+ years Property & Casualty Insurance experience. Strong knowledge of insurance business processes and enterprise data structures. Technical Skills Conceptual, Logical & Physical Data Modeling ER Modeling and Dimensional Modeling (Star/Snowflake) Snowflake, Database Design, Normalization, Denormalization Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, Visio Insurance Domain Knowledge Policy Administration Claims Management Underwriting Risk & Exposure Premium & Billing Coverage & Endorsements Broker & Customer Data Regulatory Reporting Soft Skills Strong analytical thinking Stakeholder management Communication Problem solving Collaboration Documentation Agile delivery experience Preferred Qualifications Azure Data Services knowledge Data Warehousing/Data Lake experience Familiarity with MDM and Data Governance frameworks Key Competencies Insurance Business Acumen Data Architecture Database Optimization Data Governance Business Analysis Stakeholder Engagement Communication Strategic Thinking Delivery Focus
