Job details

About Hush Hush Bookkeeping We believe in keeping our clients’ financial matters stress-free, working quietly behind the scenes so they can enjoy total peace of mind—hence the name Hush Hush. At Hush Hush Bookkeeping, we deliver tailored bookkeeping services to small and medium-sized businesses. Our mission is to provide accurate, reliable, and confidential financial management that empowers our clients to focus on what they do best—growing their businesses. We are a growing company, committed to building a collaborative team culture that values precision, trust, and innovation. Role Overview We are hiring an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of client files from beginning to end. You will own full-cycle bookkeeping, keep monthly work on schedule, resolve issues independently, and deliver accurate records and reports clients can trust. This is a hands-on role for someone who can manage competing priorities without losing attention to detail. You will also review work completed by junior bookkeepers, provide practical feedback, and help strengthen our internal processes. You will do well here if you are proactive, curious, comfortable raising questions early, and committed to checking your work before it reaches a client. What you will own • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients across different industries. • Maintain accounts payable and receivable, bank feeds, receipts, bills, expenses, sales deposits, and supporting records. • Perform accurate bank, credit card, and clearing account reconciliations. • Record and reconcile activity from Dext, Square, Stripe, Shopify, Plooto, and other connected platforms. • Prepare monthly financial reports and clear, client-ready summaries. • Process payroll and support related remittances and filings. • Review work completed by junior bookkeepers, identify errors, and provide constructive feedback. • Communicate progress, outstanding items, risks, and delays to the account manager. • Troubleshoot QuickBooks Online issues and resolve integration or posting errors. • Support bookkeeping cleanup and catch-up projects when required. • Keep project management software updated and client records organized. • Develop and update standard operating procedures and recommend workflow improvements. • Contact CRA when required and stay current on bookkeeping best practices and regulatory requirements. What you bring • You are located in Canada • At least 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience in public practice, including responsibility for multiple client files. • Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online. • At least 1 year of experience using Dext. • Experience with multi-currency bookkeeping. • A strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting. • Experience running payroll and supporting tax and regulatory filings. • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management. • The ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and follow through without constant supervision. • Clear and professional communication with clients and team members. • Experience with Zoho, Plooto, or ClickUp is an asset. What success looks like • Deadlines are met without repeated follow-up. • Reconciliations and reports are accurate, complete, and ready for client review. • Questions, missing information, and delays are raised early. • Client files are organized, current, and easy for another team member to review. • Junior team members receive useful feedback that improves the quality of their work. Why join us • Meaningful ownership of your work and client portfolio. • A flexible, remote work environment. • Exposure to a diverse range of businesses and bookkeeping challenges. • The opportunity to improve processes and help shape a growing company. • A supportive team that values accuracy, initiative, and professional development. • Competitive compensation based on experience, plus a performance-based bonus.
