This role is a unique opportunity to work across both bookkeeping and accounting functions, supporting more complex client files while also contributing to tax preparation, project-based assignments, and advisory services. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in bookkeeping, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and a desire to grow within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Client Financial Management:Oversee and manage financial records, completing full-cycle bookkeeping with the help of junior staff for a select group of complex and valued clients using diverse accounting software. File Reviews and Compliance:Conduct thorough file reviews for complex clients, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulatory compliance. Provide feedback and guidance to junior staff to maintain high-quality bookkeeping standards. Strategic Financial Guidance:Provide strategic financial insights and guidance to clients, supporting business decisions and identifying growth opportunities through meticulous financial data analysis. Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive business performance. Tax Preparation Support:Assist in the preparation of tax returns by gathering, organizing, and reviewing financial data. Work closely with the tax team to ensure timely and accurate filings. Project-Based Assignments:Lead and participate in project-based work, including cleanup and catchup bookkeeping, accounting file conversions, and app advisory and implementation for clients. Provide expert guidance on accounting system conversions and help clients transition smoothly to new platforms. Advise clients on the implementation and integration of accounting apps, ensuring they are leveraging the best technology for their business needs. Technical Expertise and Advisory:Serve as the go-to expert for technical bookkeeping issues or bookkeeping advisory needs, offering solutions and guidance to both clients and internal team members. Integrate operational apps with clients’ accounting systems and provide advisory services related to these apps. Experience working with ERP systems would be an asset. Offer advisory services on accounting software and apps, ensuring clients leverage technology to enhance their financial operations. Team Leadership and Mentorship:Mentor bookkeepers, offering support and guidance to maintain the accuracy and completeness of financial records for all clients. Participate in regular EOS-driven team meetings, feedback loops, and contribute to assigned "rocks" (quarterly goals). Collaboration and Reporting:Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for clients. Participate in client review meetings to discuss budgets, forecasts, and financial performance. Technology, AI & Continuous Improvement AI is part of how every role at YBL works. We use Claude every day alongside the AI built into our platforms, connected to the systems we run on, including Notion, Karbon, Compass, Microsoft 365, and YBL Relay for our own custom apps. Using AI well is a rated competency in reviews and a factor in compensation. Across every role at YBL: Use Claude, its skills, and connectors to work directly with client and firm data in the systems where it lives. Use the AI built into the platforms you work in, such as Kai in Karbon. Review every output before it reaches a client or teammate, and have Claude ask rather than guess. Handle client information carefully, using only approved tools and connectors. Ask "should this be a skill?" about repetitive work, and share what works with the team. At the Staff level, you will: Use Claude skills and platform AI for everyday tasks within your team's workflows. Run AI-assisted self-reviews before handing work up for review. Ask when you are unsure, rather than relying on an output you cannot verify. How this is measured: You consistently meet the Claude and Kai usage targets on your department's EOS scorecard. Are You the Right Fit for YBL? At YBL Accounting, our values guide everything we do: Collaboration: We believe in the power of teamwork and working together to achieve our goals. Collaboration is the driving force that propels our approach, allows us to push boundaries, and drives continuous evolution in our clients' businesses.
