OVERVIEW Vertex is currently accepting applications for one full-time, permanent Junior Accountant in Sherwood Park, AB location. The successful candidate will provide financial expertise and support to the Senior Accountant and Controller; playing a key role in overseeing all reports, financial functions and process improvement opportunities. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Diploma, certificate, or higher education in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. Knowledge of financial, operational and cost reporting and analysis considered an asset Significant work background involving data, entries to software and spreadsheets, preparation and compilation of numbers and documents, and variability in procedures. Comfortable with Accounting software and MS Suite, especially in Word and Excel Careful attention to detail and ability to work with high volumes of data is essential Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong problem solving and decision-making skills Experience in Maestro software is an asset Highly organized and self-motivated Ability to work effectively in a team environment RESPONSIBILITIES Fuel card entries, reconciliation and accruals PO reconciliation, entries and accruals Identify, reconcile, and compile contractor amounts for statement purposes.
