Job summary
Duration: 1 Year + Extension Possible Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Hybrid (4 Days Onsite) Job Description: Must have demonstrated experience in technical accounting research and accounting advisory, including IFRS interpretation, accounting policy development, preparation of accounting memos, and assessment of complex accounting matters (e.g., financial instruments and consolidation); candidates with primarily operational accounting experience (month-end close, reconciliations, AP/AR, financial reporting production, or general accounting operations) will not be considered. Responsibilities: • Act as a subject matter expert on complex accounting matters, including financial instruments and consolidation. • Research, analyze, and resolve accounting issues under IFRS guidance. • Review new business and product proposals and assess accounting implications. • Prepare technical accounting memos, presentation materials, benchmarking studies, and policy documentation. • Assist with consolidated shareholder reporting, financial statements, and regulatory disclosures. • Monitor emerging IFRS standards and provide technical updates to stakeholders. • Deliver practical accounting advisory services and recommendations to business partners. • Communicate complex accounting concepts to stakeholders across varying levels of seniority. • Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Investor Relations, Product Control, Finance Operations, and external auditors. • Support ad hoc initiatives and projects as required. Experience: • Must have CPA designation or be in the final stages of obtaining CPA credentials. • Must have 5–7 years of financial accounting experience. • Must have experience researching, applying, and concluding on IFRS guidance. • Must have advisory accounting experience rather than purely operational accounting experience. • Must have prior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm. • Must have experience within financial institutions, banking, or credit unions. • Experience in auditing financial institutions is highly preferred. • Experience with financial instruments, consolidation assessments, and technical accounting research preferred. • Strong project management and stakeholder management experience preferred. • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required. • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
