Job summary

Our client, a well-established gold mining organization, is seeking a highly motivated and strong Senior Accountant to join its finance team for a 2.5 month contract assignment. The role is hybrid with 4 days in office and work remote from home 1 day a week. About The Role The ideal candidate is a CPA-designated accounting professional with strong technical accounting expertise gained within the mining sector or a large, complex public company environment. This individual will thrive in a dynamic setting and possess the ability to work collaboratively across operational and corporate finance teams. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis. Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting deadlines. Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with IFRS. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure financial data integrity. Support the preparation of management reporting packages and financial analyses for senior leadership. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and operational financial analysis. Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit requirements. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and corporate governance standards. Support tax compliance, including assisting with corporate tax, mining tax, and statutory reporting requirements where applicable. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency. Collaborate with operational, technical, and corporate stakeholders to support business objectives and strategic initiatives. Must Have CPA designation (CPA Canada) is required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated full-cycle accounting responsibilities. Experience within the mining industry or a large, publicly traded organization with complex accounting and reporting requirements. Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards. Experience managing month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audit support. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems. Preferred Experience with mining accounting, including capital expenditures, fixed assets, inventory accounting, production costing, and asset retirement obligations. Exposure to publicly listed company reporting requirements and internal control frameworks. Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar systems.
