The Role – Temporary Jr. Accountant (3-Month Contract) We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our Finance team on a temporary 3-month contract, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This role will provide support across day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced corporate environment. Key Responsibilities Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, expense reports, and vendor/customer reconciliations. Perform routine account and bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as needed. Assist with the preparation and organization of financial reports and accounting documentation. Support the Finance team with data entry, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring transactions are properly recorded. Assist with accounting activities related to US-based subsidiaries, as required. Support the preparation of audit documentation and other financial information as needed. Maintain organized and accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. Utilize accounting systems and Microsoft Excel to support accounting processes and reporting. Experience with NetSuite is an asset. Collaborate with Finance and other departments to resolve accounting-related questions and ensure timely completion of tasks. Support ad hoc accounting projects and other Finance initiatives as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. 1–2 years of accounting experience in a corporate environment is preferred; recent graduates with relevant internship or co-op experience will also be considered. Basic understanding of Canadian accounting principles and financial processes. Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data organization; experience with pivot tables is an asset. Experience with accounting software or ERP systems; NetSuite experience is an asset but not required. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the Finance team. Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Contract Details Position: Jr. Accountant Employment Type: Temporary Contract Length: 3 months Reports to: Financial Controller Compensation: $65,000 CAD annual salary, prorated for the 3-month contract
