Job summary
Our client, a growing asset management firm, is seeking a Fund Accountant to join their dynamic team. This role is critical in overseeing fund accounting processes, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you’ll work closely with finance, marketing, and operations teams to support the organization’s growth and success. This is a strong opportunity for a Fund Accountant coming from a fund administrator, financial institution, or investment firm who is looking for broader ownership and exposure on the asset manager side. Key Responsibilities Review daily NAV packages and fund accounting schedules prepared by an external fund administrator, identifying and resolving discrepancies or exceptions. Investigate NAV, pricing, reconciliation, and settlement issues, determining root causes and coordinating resolution with internal teams and service providers. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual fund accounting analytics, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance activities. Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual fund accounting analytics, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance for a growing family of investment funds. Develop and maintain spreadsheet models to analyze and forecast fund performance. Communicate with service providers and report on fund matters and investment activities. Assist in the preparation of semi-annual and annual fund financial statements. Qualifications and Competencies 2+ years of fund accounting experience, ideally with mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity, fund-of-funds, or other pooled investment products. Experience with daily-valued funds, daily NAV review, pricing, reconciliations, or settlement exceptions is highly desirable. Strong understanding of NAV calculations, reconciliations, pricing, investment activity, and fund accounting controls. Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power Query and Bloomberg is a plus. Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or related field; CPA designation is an asset.
