Job summary

Hybrid. Downtown Vancouver. Global Public Company. Full-time permanent role. Excellent opportunity for a technically strong payroll professional who enjoys working in a collaborative team culture. Processing multiple small but complex payrolls in Canada, US, and Mexico. Benefits administration experience is highly preferred but not absolutely required. Who- the Company: Our client is a global public company headquartered in Vancouver. They have a reputation in Vancouver and beyond for hiring top talent, and for providing their employees with interesting and challenging work in an upbeat, collaborative, and professional environment. Swim Recruiting has been engaged to aid with this important search. What- the Opportunity: On behalf of our client, Swim Recruiting is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist. The new Payroll Specialist will process 6 payrolls in 3 countries, mix of salaried & hourly (but mostly salaried) as well as a mix of bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly. The total payroll size is only around 200 employees, so this role is more about complexity of payroll rather than processing a very high volume. The Payroll Specialist will process merit/bonus pay-outs, salary changes, equity pay-outs and changes, merit calculations, etc. Another important component of this role is benefits and pension administration for the same 200 employees. The Payroll Specialist will process benefits changes, support their boss with benefits program reviews, renewals, and changes, and help manage the employee pension plan. Who- the Candidate: We are looking for an organized, independent, detail-oriented, and friendly Payroll professional with 4+ years of relevant payroll processing experience. Experience processing a BC salaried payroll is required, and experience processing a US payroll is highly preferred/almost required. The team can train the new Payroll Specialist on payroll for Mexico (it’s a small payroll). Ideally the successful candidate for this role will also have strong benefits and pension administration experience, although this is not required if someone is very strong in payroll only and very eager and willing to learn new skills in benefits administration. Candidates must be strong with systems, including advanced proficiency with Excel and hands-on experience using a sophisticated payroll system such as Workday HCM, ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, etc. The technical payroll skills are of course very important in this role, but so are the soft skills! This organization has a friendly, collaborative, tight-knit, and fun-loving team. We are looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist who enjoys providing excellent internal customer service to employees and who can answer a variety of questions, improve payroll and benefits processes, and solve problems. Excellent time management is crucial in this position, as there are several payrolls to process with competing schedules and timelines. Where: HYBRID- 3 days/week from the office in downtown Vancouver, close to rapid transit. How Much: Competitive salary, commensurate with payroll processing and benefits administration experience, skills, and qualifications, likely in the range of $80,000 to $100,000. Please note that to reach the upper end of the range, candidates will need to have all the “nice to have qualifications” and likely 7+ years of relevant experience. This company is generous with their employees- they have a bonus program, an RRSP match, excellent health & dental benefits, a health allowance, and other perks. Please discuss your total compensation expectations in more detail with SWIM.
