Job summary
About the Role The Junior Accountant plays an important role in the finance function at Sterling Brokers. This role provides day-to-day accounting support across our subsidiary brands, assisting with journal entries, reconciliations, and payroll-adjacent tasks while working within tight month, quarter, and year-end timelines. This role collaborates closely with the broader Finance team, requiring strong organizational skills and a customer-service mindset to be successful in a fast-paced, changing environment. This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum one day per week in office at our Toronto Headquarters Location; the specific day and time will be determined with the hiring manager. What You'll Do Client Billing & Invoicing • Post HSA invoices to Sterling platform and NetSuite • Prepare manual invoices and manual adjustments • Review invoices prior to distribution • Process PAD (pre-authorized debit) runs, twice monthly • Manage PAD exceptions • Complete invoice approvals at the start of each month • Send client invoice reminders and follow up on outstanding payments Client & Account Support • Respond to client queries and communications • Conduct rate reviews • Process bridge coverage requests • Complete new group uploads • Process client terminations • Follow up on failed, expired, or declined payments Office & Compliance • Deposit cheques, scan incoming mail, and maintain filing • Commission statement download, scan and filing • Support audit requests and documentation • Other tasks as required Qualifications • University degree required; a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management is preferred • 2+ years of experience working in a mid-sized Finance environment • Some experience with payroll is preferred • 2+ years of experience booking journal entries; NetSuite experience is considered an asset • Demonstrated ability to work within tight timelines for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close • Proven ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, changing environment • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills Compensation Package • Salary Range: $40,000 - 60,000 base compensation including comprehensive health and wellness benefits
