Accounting Manager Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario | Full-time, in-office $105,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications About the Firm Stefanizzi Professional Corporation is a growing, full-service CPA firm based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, employing over 25 professionals. We work with a diverse range of owner-managed businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs, and families, providing practical advice across accounting, assurance, taxation, business advisory, and financial reporting. Our firm combines the close knit, collaborative environment of a local practice with the complexity and opportunity typically associated with much larger firms. Our team is exposed to meaningful client work early, works directly with business owners and decision makers, and can develop well beyond traditional compliance work. We are committed to building a modern accounting firm that invests in it’s people, embraces technology, and continuously looks for better ways to serve our clients. We value initiative, professionalism, strong relationships, and people who want to keep learning and growing. At Stefanizzi Professional Corporation, you are not simply joining an accounting firm - you are joining a team where your contributions are noticed, your development is supported, and there is genuine opportunity to build a long-term career as the firm continues to grow throughout Ontario. The Role We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing team at Stefanizzi Professional Corporation. This is a key leadership position for a motivated accounting professional who enjoys working closely with clients, developing team members, and taking ownership of a diverse portfolio of engagements. In this role, you will oversee compilation and assurance engagements, corporate and personal tax work, and a variety of advisory assignments for owner-managed businesses and professionals. You will work directly with partners and clients on more complex accounting and tax matters while providing guidance, review, and mentorship to junior and intermediate team members. The ideal candidate is technically strong, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities, but also understands that great client service goes beyond preparing accurate financial statements and tax returns. We are looking for someone who can build trusted client relationships, identify issues and opportunities, communicate practical solutions, and help move engagements forward efficiently. This role offers exposure to interesting and complex client situations, and the opportunity to play an important role in the continued growth and development of the firm. For the right candidate, there is meaningful potential for increased responsibility and long-term career advancement. What You Will Do • Act as the main day-to-day contact for a portfolio of owner-managed clients and their corporations • Prepare and review corporate (T2) and personal (T1) tax returns, including corporate groups and post-year-end planning • Review compilation engagements (CSRS 4200) and year-end files prepared by staff • Advise clients on compensation planning, incorporation, and structuring, with partner support on reorganizations • Handle CRA reviews, audits, and correspondence • Supervise and mentor staff accountants and CPA students, review their work, and keep engagements on schedule through busy season • Research tax issues and draft memos and client letters • Help improve firm templates, checklists, and standard operating procedures What We Are Looking For • CPA designation in Good Standing (required) • Five or more years of Canadian Public Accounting experience, with real exposure to owner-managed clients • Strong personal and corporate tax skills. You can take a T2 for a corporate group from prep through review and explain the results to the client in plain language • Experience reviewing staff work and running multiple engagements at once • Completion of, or interest in, the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program (firm will provide support throughout the program) • CaseWare/CaseView and TaxPrep experience is an asset • Clear writing and comfortable client communication by phone, email, and in person What We Offer • $105,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience • Group benefits after completion of the probationary period • Paid professional development, including full sponsorship of the In-Depth Tax Program and annual CPA dues • Direct access to the partners, with no layers between you and the people making decisions • Room to grow as the firm grows • Flexible summer hours Location This is a full-time, in-office position at our Sault Ste. Marie office. If you are considering a move, the Soo offers a short commute, housing that is still affordable, and quick access to lakes and trails.
