Job summary
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a well-established organization in Burnaby, BC, for a 6-month contract. Responsibilities Manage the end-to-end accounting process for internal and externally funded projects, including ongoing refinement of project reporting and project-related KPIs. Review project activities and transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment under ASPE. Review project details for compliance with applicable funding agreements, contracts, and other requirements. Partner with Project Management to address questions related to project costs, payment status, budgets, and variances. Design and maintain project-related master data within the ERP system from project initiation through closeout, ensuring alignment with accounting procedures and applicable requirements. Act as a key finance contact for project-based external reporting, including government-funded projects. Prepare periodic project financial reporting and communicate results to project managers, project coordinators, executives, and other stakeholders. Ensure project-related invoicing is accurate and completed on a timely basis. Investigate project variances and budget performance, report findings to senior management and project stakeholders, and identify opportunities to improve spending efficiency. Monitor project transactions, costs, and related administration for accuracy, completeness, and cost effectiveness. Qualifications CPA designation or equivalent (foundational accounting experience gained within public practice an asset). Strong knowledge of ASPE reporting. Experience working with a large ERP/accounting system. Strong Excel skills. Ability to work cross-functionally with various teams.
