Job summary

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical Accountant to oversee the company’s accounting and financial activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the full accounting cycle, supporting financial reporting and compliance, and providing meaningful financial analysis to management. This role will also contribute to payroll administration, ERP optimization, internal controls, process improvements, and strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working closely with senior management and operational teams. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Management Oversee the full accounting cycle and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Monitor cash flow and support management with financial planning and budgeting. Analyze financial results, variances, and operational profitability. Coordinate relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, and government agencies. Prepare GST/QST returns and other required regulatory remittances. Support year-end closing activities and tax preparation processes. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Payment Controls Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. Ensure invoices, payments, expense coding, and supporting documentation are accurate and properly maintained. Participate in payment approval processes and maintain appropriate financial controls. Monitor and follow up on customer accounts and supplier balances. Contribute to the improvement of internal controls and financial procedures. Payroll & Administrative Support Process payroll accurately and within required deadlines. Ensure compliance with payroll-related government remittances and requirements. Maintain accurate payroll and employee benefits records. Provide administrative support and maintain documentation related to payroll and employee benefits as required. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably in a hands-on accounting role. Strong knowledge of the full accounting cycle, financial reporting, and month-end closing processes. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and government remittances. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Experience working with ERP systems; experience with ERP implementation or optimization is an asset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and government agencies. Bilingual French/English is an asset, particularly for working with Quebec-based regulatory and business requirements.
